Jason Derulo to Work With Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, March 23, 2010

derulo Jason Derulo, who is no stranger now to storming the charts and working with powerhouse pop divas, is about to work with another legendary artist who is certainly familiar with the Top 10.

The rising R&B star, 21, just saw his first two singles off of his self-titled debut album hit the Billboard charts, has toured with fan Lady Gaga and this week nabbed the top spot in the Us Weekly Buzzometer. So what's next? He's on his way into the studio to work with Madonna! Derulo told our own Zach Johnson all about it plus other future plans (including his love life!) when he gave Us a ring the other day. Read on for more from Jason!

Us: Are there any other artists you'd like to tour with or maybe collaborate with musically?

JD: Yeah. I'm about to work with Madonna, and I’ve been watching her for years. I would love to be a part of another reinvention. She’s been able to reinvent herself time and time again. I’ll probably be part of that.

this is something i dont get. every now and the you hear some new kid or dj or producer to mention madonna...
i mean how true can that be? they all use madonnas name to make headlines. they do it to generate a buzz about them without considering the ammount of negative comments that madonna and her team are going to receive..
    here we go again now:
madonna is too old to work with him.. madonna is still tryin to hit the us market by hiring young and fresh musicians... madonna is desperate.. her music will suck... blah, blah, blah..
anyone with half brain will wait to see the ending result.. personally i dont think it will ever be one as i dont belive it!

who? i doubt there's any validity to this story. i agree with anonymous above.

M has also over-extended herself again...like with "hard candy," "filth and wisdom," and "i am because we are" all coming out around the same time. too many promotions for too many projects that were lackluster (with the exception of the malawi doc that was great).

i mean she's got "W.E." to do and another album??? hopefully, they won't suck and she'll stay focus. i want a new album (good quality and don't really care who she works with as long as it's good music) instead of a film.

  3. Anonymous Said,

If there is any truth in this I think it could seriously damage her credibility. Madonna really needs to stay well clear of anyone Gaga related -Derulo, Red One, Kid Cudi - It will seem so desperate if Madonna's seen to be copying her. I'm waiting for Will.i.am's name to be thrown in, but again Fergie, and Cheryl Cole have all ready been there; and she should avoid Akon at all cost! In fact, she should just avoid the R'n'B brigade and either make a kiss-ass rock album or delve deeper into dance sub-genre.

Oh no - Hard Candy 2!!!

  5. Anonymous Said,

The same complaints over and over again. Please stop.

  6. Anonymous Said,

Let's just wait and see. The Guetta comment from a couple of weeks earlier ment to be false either.
Until Madonna (or her publicist) confirm anything I''ll take this as a rumour.

  7. Anonymous Said,

Madonna should keep being a trendsetter, not a follower. I doubt this is true. But to do a Gaga-ish album will be a huge mistake: Madonna must look to artists like Barbra Streisand. Only good stuff to put out, rely on fans and make a very wise management of her catalogue. To follow wanna bees not a wise move!

  8. Anonymous Said,

I hope this rumors are false or it will be awful :-( more stupid rappers , I hope not.

  9. Trey Said,

Madonna needs to make a Madonna album. Fuck U.S. radio if they ignore it because she is not 23. Jumping on the bandwagon was something Madonna always hated. She did it with HC which I like a lot of, but she doesn't need to continue on that path. I wouldn't mind a rockier album or a total mindfuck dance record. Just don't do something typical

let's hope this is another fake-news. i don't think that she's tpo old to work with him, i just think that all this r'n'b-music is so boring, and not uptodate anymore.

Madonna's career needs another renaissance (sounds pretentious, I know). Like A Prayer and Ray of Light were redefining for her, and successive releases seem to feed off of that success until it somewhat fades off. She needs to do what she did before making those albums-- lay low a bit, let her creative juices build up, and come back with a vengeance. When learning news like this I can't help but hope it's just a rumor.

Her album releases after a Greatest Hits package (Erotica, American Life) tend to be less successful and hard for most mainstream fans to digest. It seems her most successive singles come when expectations are low- the problem is that people nowadays have such high expectations for her and keeps building that no matter how good a single is it'll never fail to disappoint.

  12. M Said,

She should retire before she puts out another crappy album with hip hop desperation behind it.

  13. Anonymous Said,

some of you need to chill. so what if its predictable and if its been done before. it its good, its good. there are some creative/talented hip hop, rnb, and rap artists out there. kanye (although sometimes annoying) is one...listen to 808s and heartbreak, its really creative...not your typical rap album.

anywho, just be open people. but, i do have a feeling this is just a rumor.mmm whatcha saaaay? ;)

  14. Jaap Said,

I'd really like her to do a dubstep-album. It's fresh, modern and nobody brought dubstep to the masses yet.

Maybe she can suck the inspiration out of this British artist named Joker:

Now that would be cool, wouldn't it?
