Madonna's career is about more than just music, and maintaining her visibility is a good thing. Furthermore I think this appearance is very helpful in terms of showing a more lighthearted side to a celebrity most non-fans think of as too intensely serious. When she wants to let her hair down and be silly or funny, she usually succeeds admirably. She comes off as fun, chilled-out, and just plain "cool" in this clip. Its good for her.
PS - If Madonna has made any mistake with regard to her music recently, it was only that she succumbed to the recent trend of linking every track to some other bankable artist. She doesn't need collaborations to create great music.
