Daily Music Guide's review of 'Give It 2 Me'

Madonna remains one of the biggest selling artists of the 20th and indeed 21st century. Her final release with Warner Bros has shot straight to number 1, and she is ranked only behind Elvis and The Beatles in terms of UK number 1 albums with 11. There is no doubting the talent of Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie - she has remained a huge force in music over the past 3 decades, and at 49 she is showing no signs of stopping. She has the unique knack of producing good music which appeals to different generations.
The second release from Hard Candy, 'Give It 2 Me' is a return to her dance roots, but with a modern twist. It begins with a thumping drum beat and resonating bassline, leading into the vocals, which show that Madonna still has an incredibly young and sexy voice. The lyrics are fun and fresh, combining the pop talents of Madge and Pharell Williams. Further into the song, she proclaims "get stupid" on top of an almost hypnotic glockenspiel, which leads into the rousing final chorus. As one of the standout tracks from the album, it's no surprise that it's already been tipped for number 1 on release. That said, we don't expect any less from one of America's finest. Rating: 4/5
