A visit to the orphanage on Saturday saw workers busy painting buildings while others were sweeping the premises in readiness for Madonna’s visit which has been shrouded in secrecy.

Consol Holmes, one of the orphanages funded by Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity at Mphandula Village in Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe, will officially be handed over today, according to a director of the orphanage Yasinta Chapomba.

Madonna is just a major donor, but on Monday [today] there will be the hand-over of keys for the centre,” said Chapomba.

A worker at this centre also said: “We are busy sprucing up the orphanage in preparation for this important visitor and all arrangements are being finalised.”
