Mandela, Madonna in talks

Former President Nelson Mandela is in negotiations with pop star Madonna over a possible meeting, his spokesperson said on Monday.

Zelda le Grange said Mandela was in the process of negotiating with Madonna but a meeting was "a bit far fetched right now".

Le Grange said she could not comment on the negotiations.

On Monday the Associated Press (AP) reported that Madonna had flown into Malawi to continue her charity work in the country.

David Banda, the Malawian boy she is in the process of adopting, joined her on the trip.

Malawian child welfare officials are expected to file a report on the suitability of Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, as adoptive parents after two trips to their London residence in May and December.

Madonna's New York-based publicist Liz Rosenberg told AP that the star was going to Africa to continue her work with her Raising Malawi organisation and was "absolutely not adopting another baby".
