The Origin Of Maverick

Madonna's record label was named MAVERICK. When faced with what to name it - the owners, Madonna and Freddy DeMann took the very literal route of using their names for inspiration.

The company name they came up with was created using the bits of names of both the star and her manager. The first four letters are taken from two of Madonna's names - the name she was given - MAdonna, and the name she gave herself at her "catholic confirmation" - VEronica. The last four letters are taken from Freddy's given name - FredeRICK

Thus : MA + VE + RICK. Voila.
