Madonna puts new movie before music

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, May 05, 2010

Madonna has admitted she is so focused on raising her family and making a movie, she has put her music career on hold.
The '4 Minutes' hitmaker - who has children Lourdes, 13, Rocco, nine, Mercy, five, and David, four - admits she is so focused on raising her family and working on her forthcoming movie 'W.E.' that she hasn't the "time or energy" to make a record.

She said: "I haven't really been focused as much as I should be on the music part of my career, because the movie has consumed every inch of me.
"Between that and my four children, I don't have the time or energy for anything else."

The 51-year-old star admitted she has been so distracted by her other ventures, she doesn't even know how her music will be released when she finally finds the time to record again.

She added to Interview magazine: "It's weird. I don't have a record deal right now with anybody. I don't know how I'm going to get my music out the next time I make a record.

"I'm going to have to reinvent the wheel. For example, I do appreciate that lots of people worked long and hard putting together things like the DVD of the 'Sticky and Sweet' tour that we just released, and I have seen the finished product, but I have got no idea how people are going to find out about it or how it's going to be sold. I think I have a fan club - well, that's what they say."

Another stupid movie... ha.. more stupid moves..

And about the DVD of S&S..
Yeah, they work harder to hide her real voice, hide her real face.. and transform the good S&S into a near-fake image/voice of M.

This is great news. The last time Madonna took a break from music to focus on other things, it inspired the greatest creative period of her career. I'm holding out for the same this time around.

I'm a fan of madonna's music and not of her movies. even though she is only directing the new movie, i think it's not a smart step from her to shift her priorities and hold back her music carreer. there are a lot of new female singers out there and she is not getting younger. at the age of 60 it would be

I think this could only be a good thing. She's been releasing records continuously since the beginning of her career. This break could refresh her creativity without the pressure of putting a record out because of contractual obligations. It's been over 2 years since she began recording HC but, movie script aside, I'm sure she has been writing and recording music since then. The last real sort of break she had between albums was the Who's That Girl Soundtrack and Like A Prayer - one of the best of her career. Music is her first love and she's always said that she will continue making records. The fans are so eager to hear new material all the time and when it's released constantly, it seems to lose it's impact. Let's wait and see what she's gonna spring on us in the future. All the fans who say they've lost hope in her musically will still listen. They may hate it or love it, but it will be talked about and discussed - just like all her efforts before. Sure there will be younger artists who come and go but there is no doubt that when Madonna releases something new...it will always be headline news to us fans. Comparing her to younger acts seems really bizarre to me. There is no comparison. Period. Peace.

maybe she fears the lady gaga has stolen her crown. Its going to take a much better record than HC to get it back!!

  6. Anonymous Said,

^I doubt that ;-) I understand that Lady GaGa is popular right now. She's talented and appeals to a huge audience but she's not been around too long in comparison. You can't steal someone's 'crown' just like that. Madonna is respected in the industry where as GaGa hasn't earnt the same respect yet. At the moment GaGa is still just a brand controlled by her record company, however hard that may sound. Sure she writes her own material and works hard but when she's done half the stuff that M has done over a 25 year period...then maybe comparisons can be made! Don't get me wrong, I really like GaGa. Madonna's message from the beginning was about empowerment and pushing peoples buttons, with religion, sex and politics. I don't find myself asking the same questions when I look at GaGa's work....yet. I see comparisons between GaGa and David Bowie/Cyndi Lauper but like I said, not Madonna. If anything, Madonna should be flattered that she's paved the way for such artists to express themselves and take control of being a woman in the industry. To make an impact and have a voice. The reason why Madonna has remained on top of her game for so long is because she has a story to tell. I wonder what GaGa's story is? Anyways...that's completely off topic :-D

please not again this gaga-comparison. damn, this "lady" has only released ONE album and madonna is the most sucessful female artist of all time. madonna has sold huge numbers of records during her carreer no other female artist will reach again in the near future.

Why are people always posting without getting their facts right?
"The last real sort of break she had between albums was the Who's That Girl Soundtrack and Like A Prayer." Really? That was a break of less than 2 years. The time between Confessions & Hard Candy was longer.
"this "lady" has only released ONE album"
WRONG. Lady Gaga has released 2 albums.

Madonna took a very long time off the music scene before the release of Ray Of Light! Thats the longest she ever took! FACT!!
she put out Bedtime Stories in Oct 1994. Then after that it was only compilations (Something To Remember in Nov 1995) and the Evita OST a year later.Bear in mind there was no original or personal input from Madonna whatsover when she recorded the songs from the musical!!! She released Ray Of Light in Feb 1998.. so thats a whole 4 years!!!
But it was worth the wait.. because honestly if you have to pick an album that shaped and shook the music business as we know it now that has to be ROL. She was the first major artist to introduce electronica and tech music into the charts. Then Madonna went down the same experimental road with Music... without those 2 albums we wouldnt have all these electro saturated tunes from the likes of Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas or Britney Spears.. or even Kanie West or Flo Rida!!
i pretty much doubt Madonna will bring out a new sound thats goin to impact the music scene in that way simply because nowadays theres no such a thing as underground music as we used to know it... but i am sure Madonna will bring something equally amazing. She might be focusing on this film and i really hope she will succeed as shes putting a lot of energy in it but she will always pay attention to whats goin on and she will always be scouting for new talent!!
Another thing Madonna is not competitive in the slightest. She doesnt need to compete with Lady Gaga. She doesnt feel she has to put some music out so that she can get her crown back!! Madonna is Madonna and Lady Gaga is.. well, is not Madonna!!
    Peace

Wasn't the project with Guetta ready?

gaga has released ONE album. i'm sorry but RE-RELEASING an album with a few additional songs does NOT count as a 2nd album. gaga is not now, nor will she ever be madonna. madonna has not lost her crown nor will she ever. gaga has her talent but she is NOT madonna in any way shape or form. stop comparing a pop tart with 2 years under her belt to a woman who has over 25 years of proven talent.

it saddens me that it'll be a long wait for new madonna music but like others have said it may pay off in the end. rather than getting another crapola cd like HC maybe we'll get something new and fresh and if so then that will make the way worth it.

I like how she doesn't even know if she has a fan club... seriously.. this bitch needs a reality check.

  13. quitcherbichinn Said,

i think you missed it....it was HUMOR on her part

you know what i just think this whole thing is stupider than stupid.....thats what i think

  15. Anonymous Said,

I love her dearly but her deal with LIVE NATION is about her music and tours (4 to be exact in 10 years) she better get workin'....and that is not something MADONNA needs to do...but she signed the deal, her fans know it, and we expect it.....no time for this movie crap !

  16. Anonymous Said,

yes, but the strange thing with it is that it seems that the live nation does NOT cover her music recordings anymore. it's very likely that this is due to the fact that live nation will not create their own music label anymore. they intended to create their own worldwide music-label when they signed madonna, nickelback&co - but last year they stated that it's not their plan anymore to make it on their own.

  17. Anonymous Said,

contracts are very flexible and sorry guys but do ya think Madonna of all people like to be told what to do or not to do???
Its possible that her publicist or managers or whoever is pressing Madonna to create more music and go back into the recording studio and she will go like "Listen if you want a good fuckin record i will give you 1 but i need time. i need time off...if not i ll give you some crap that everybody is listening to."
and in all honesty music sounds sooo the same today!! no originality... no innovation. i mean people out there think Lady Gaga is original and groundbreaking!!!??? Whats original in dressing like a drag queen and putting more beats and bass in a Madonna tune????!!!

  18. Anonymous Said,

    Anyway...Fact is:
Madonna is the best selling singer in the world...and the best touring artist ever!

Of course, she will be back with a new album including a new sound and so on.
That's what she did since 28 years!! 28 YEARS! That's a long time..

There were many artists who were titled as the new Madonna or the new Queen(s)...
Cindy Lauper, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and so on but where are all these women today???
And Laqy Gaga is a phenomen like that...

Fact is: Madonna is still there and whatever she will do...She will be the Queen of MUSIC!

  19. Anonymous Said,

ok wow, the person who posted above is greatly mistaken.

the spice girls were never called the next madonna. cindy lauper was never called that either, since both cindy and M came out around the same time.

your asking where Mariah, Britney, and Christina have gone? they are still around. maybe they aren't as successful as M, but they all have pretty current albums. Lady Gaga is a little more than a phenomen. shes not at M's level...YET. but shes definately better than britney, christina, and mariah...

  20. Anonymous Said,

She's often overlooked, however - i think Pink is more in the running as the next Madonna, compared to Britney and Christina. I mean in terms of spirit, not neccasarily music. She has way more angst, drive and tenacity and bravado than the rest - that is for certain. She marches to the beat of her own drum, and that, to me, is the true makings of the next Madonna. Not merely dressing up and shooting a glossy video. The End.

  21. quitcherbichinn Said,

enough with the "next madonna" shit. no one is "the next madonna". madonna is madonna. pink is pink. lady gaga is lady gaga, etc. madonna will never be replaced as being madonna and if anyone thinks someone will replace madonna as madonna...especially a madonna FAN then y'all have something wrong in the head.

stop comparing pop tart a and pop tart b and so on to madonna. there will never be a replcaement.

when lady gaga or any of the other aforementioned tarts have reached 28 years of fame and they happen to be relevant 28 years after the start of their career then they will be as successful as madonna but not "the next madonna". until then enough with this retarded shit.

  22. Anonymous Said,

    damn right!

  23. Anonymous Said,

NOOO!!! We want more music we don't need movies! XD

  24. Anonymous Said,

Madonna released Celebration and Sticky & Sweet Tour inside of one year.
So,there was no doubt that she will make a creative interval.
Therefore next year we will get a new brilliant album ;-)
    I hope so...

  25. quitcherbichinn Said,

as long as we get some new demos and maybe a song from the upcoming movie or something else...something new to tide me/us over then i can live with waiting a year-year and a half for a new album. i'm greedy...i just want want want new music! though i can be patient so her creativity can come back and we get a great album like coadf, lap, or erotica...even rol or music. something phenomenal. =)
