Madonna concert outrages religious

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Several Catholic organizations throughout Poland are calling for cancellation of the Madonna concert on 15 August in Poland due to the fact that it is the religious feast day of the Assumption of Mary.
"Madonna cannot sing on the day of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary," claims member of the Mazowiecki regional assembly, Marian Brudzinski.
"We are calling for a moral stand in Warsaw. A protest committee is being formed to organize parishes," added the regional representative.
"It harms our religious sentiment. Besides that, Madonna’s performances are anti-Christian," states Krzysztof Zagozda from the Unum Principum Catholic Society, who initiated the protest. Zagozda added that the fact that the concert is organized on the Catholic feast day is a distinct attempt to stir controversy.
Former Warsaw Solidarity chaplain, Father Stanislaw Malkowski, shares Zagozda’s opinion: "It must be revealed who is responsible for this. The Church and nation should protest loudly."

"We will do everything so as not to allow this scandal to take place," added Brudzynski, a former member of League of Polish Families. The protest committee is scheduled to meet next week and will gather signatures throughout parishes and send formal declaration of protest to the concert’s organizers as well as the main sponsor, Allegro.pl, an internet auction portal.
The committee is appealing to the Minister of Interior and Administration, Grzegorz Schetyna, and concert organizers to cancel the event.

"If that does not work out, there will be a massive picket at the concert. We want to stifle Madonna," warns Brudzynski.

...or they could have written her a nice letter requesting her to re-schedule the concert?

some people really need to get a grip =/
Now Madonna is NOT going to re-schedule the concert to piss them off, and she is quite justified in doing so.

Just the kind of controversy she'd want!

I'm not from Poland but can imagine that you feel sorry for your country.

Foolish not of this world religious stupid brainwashed people.
Perhaps u remember the protests which took place in Amsterdam before the Confessions Tour.... same thing, a lot of words but almost no action. this group was so small and laughable
But respect to all of religious persons who are not pushing their crazy thougts to others

And by the other way...this concert is going to push the local economy as well....

Somehow the comparising between Holland and Poland is comparing apples and pears. Poland is waaaaaaay more orthodox, and the religious fruitcakes in Amsterdam were just not even worth mentioning. Poland should be skipped by our queen, and by the EU. All we get is the same crap over and over again.

well at first thought i thought how terrible that religious groups are still trying to impose thier beleifs on everybody. but then, i think when you go to a country you have to respect their traditions and culture... if Madonna came to australia she would NEVER be able to perform on ANZAC day. thats just the way it is.

Oh the moral religious majority. There would be no problem if they werent paying attention to her...
I love how they always attack the singer but not the PEOPLE who buy the tickets.
Let the polish people decide..If they want her to play that day then they will buy the ticket and pay so much money to see her..
If they think she is making the mistake and shouldnt be singing then they shouldnt buy the ticket...
    Simple...
This is the same moral majority that preaches purity till marriage yet everyone in Europe knows that Polish and Italian girls get it up the bum til they get married so they stay virgin til they marry....
    Moral assholes.

Religious a**holes... The same thing would most definitely happen in Greece, because of the celebration of Virgin Mary the same day... It's a pitty... Madonna would not force anyone to come to the concert... It's up to the people's choice... Besides it's 2009 already... :(

Polish fans have been waiting for such reaction from the very beginning- now when not all tickets are sold out- this "massive picket" is exactly the free and very effective advertisement for the show :D Polish fans are sorry for such opposing people in their country. We love Madonna, we travel all around the world to see her so nothing's gonna stop us to see the Queen :)
