Italian journalist Brunetto Fantauzzi is about to launch a "referendum" to ask the people of Pacentro, the small Italian town from which Madonna's Ciccone grandparents left to find fortune in America, if they would like to have a statue dedicated to Madonna in their own town centre.
We'll see then if after years of snobbing and ignoring Madonna, the people from Pacentro have now changed their mind on the Queen Of Pop and they can finally be proud of her.
It's funny to note that a lot of ignorant members of the Italian press and media still believe Madonna is the stage name of "Maria Louise Ciccone", and this "stage name" was simply chosen as a "mock" to catholic religion.
The "people referendum" will start on September 1st and will end on September 6th, the day on which Madonna is due to perform with her Sticky & Sweet tour in Rome.
