Madonna said she’s going to play Detroit.
The pop diva told a Traverse City audience Saturday after the screening of her documentary about orphans in Malawi that her next world tour would include Detroit as a stop.
She last played Detroit in 2001.
The Michigan native’s announcement was made during a question and answer period that was closed to the press.
The screening of "I Am Because We Are" was a major attraction at the Michael Moore-founded Traverse City Film Festival.
Michigan-native Moore confirmed that Madonna announced the Detroit stop. But details of the tour stop were not released.
Moore described how Madonna and her manager talked in the Green Room of the theater and a few minutes later said "we're going to play Detroit."
"She had an incredible night here" said Moore, talking about how moved Madonna was by the warm reception she received from her fellow Michiganders.
She decided to make the Detroit stop in Traverse City, said Moore.
