Prince was supposed to be a surprise performer at Elton John's AIDS Foundation party last night, but ended up not going on after all. Rumor on the gold carpet was that the Purple One would take the stage with Elton at the end of the night, but it never happened. Oddly enough, he did arrive at the Chopard-sponsored soiree as a guest, though.

"He said from the very beginning that he might perform, but it was never confirmed," said one organizer, adding they had "no idea" why he didn't do his thing. Maybe he was saving his pipes for his living-room performance at his own party later that night?

And maybe that explains why Elton John and David Furnish went to Madonna's big bash after theirs instead of Prince's? Speaking of Madge, not only did she host an after-party complete with Absinthe fountains, she also managed to show up for jury duty bright and early the next morning. Now, that's impressive!
