Unlike The Immaculate Collection, released in 1990 with all brand new remixed edits in the great Q sound, Celebration unfortunately will not contain new remixed edits but mostly already released original Album Versions and Radio Edits of the hits plus some versions lifted from The Immaculate Collection.
Probably a bit more of a effort could have been put in the production of this project, especially after how badly the previous collection GHV2, completely made of recycled old materials, has been received by the diehard fans, but at least we have the two great singles, Celebration and Revolver that partly make up for this lack of originality.
And here are the exclusive details about the double cd track list.

WTF? The god-awful Immaculate Collection versions of Like a Prayer & Express Yourself???
At least we get the original Into the Groove & Papa Don't Preach (two other tracks on the Immaculate Collection Shep Pettibone's "knob twiddling" messed up).
Should have used original single edits
(remastered).
In fact given that this repeats 16/17 of the Immaculate Collection tracks (which everyone and his dog already owns) - plus 2 token tracks from each post 1990 studio album why bother?
A lost opportunity.
wow.
this is shockingly disappointing.
Umm.. I might not even buy this now. I really wanted a remastered version of the original Like A Prayer and Express Yourself.
I buy it only for Into The Groove, Beautiful Stranger, Celebration and Revolver.
nope i dont buy it.
its a shame , how disappointing.
A monument to laziness. I really wanted to remix Edit version of Burning Up, plus all remastered stuff from unmastered albums. Is there anyone we can "kill" at Warner. They all should be fired!!!!
lazy bs....might be the first madge album i don't buy...will just steal the 2 new songs from the net.
vaginal secretions
Immaculate Collection version of Borderline?? The album version far surpasses that one...indeed, what were they thinking?...
Greatest hits albums are for new potential fans from the new generations not for die hard fans. We all have this tracks on separate albums so what's all the fuss about. Some of my faves songs (look of love, power of goodbye , american pie) are not included and rightly so. The had an immense impact on me but they never been super hits. C'mon people...she knows what she is doing and so the industry people.
I am disappointed! The only highlight for me is Lucky Star (LP edit) and I am fearing for that! I want the ORIGINAL 7" edit and I can only hope that is what this album delivers and not the Immaculate colection version.....I will believe it when I hear it.....
I am absolutely horrorfied that the awful Immacutate colection version of Like A Prayer is on it....and why the 3 Minutes version of 4 Minutes???
I really hoped for the original UK 7" remix of Open Your Heart as that remains unreleased on cd.
I AM pleased that the Lp Version of Hung Up is on it....
Could have been better - but of course I will buy it! :-D
would have been great if the gh could have been put togther like confessions, all blended into one huge track...
To be cutting edge this should be

Welcome to the death of The Immaculate Collection!!!
Let's all keep in mind that although her name is on the cover, the girl is on tour and basically went into the studio to do the extra tracks. I hardly think she had the time or the inclination to spend a whole lot of time on this project. So the selections and decisions came from Warners and they're just interested in making their final cash-in from any new material. So they did as little as possible for the biggest possible gains. Sounds like business as usual. Considering that they have future prospects for box sets and stuff like that, I don't see this as the last we'll see from these people.
Clearly, she takes us for granted. She thinks, "there's a million of them in the US who will buy anything I release, so why should I bother to spend any time or effort on this project?" She forgets 1992 and 1993, when we supported and defended her work, despite a bitter backlash. One wonders just how few records she'd sell, and whether the message would resonate with her, if her diehards took a pass on this one.
I disagree with the person above me and completely agree with rocketboy. Madonna obviously wasn't able to work on this project so much. The people at Warner are the ones that think "there's a million of them in the US who will buy anything we release, so why should I bother to spend any time or effort on this project?" They just want to milk as much money as they can from her before she leaves them for good.
I am very disappointed by the IC releases, except Into the groove. Finally none of that bullshit remixed crap. The hits should be in their original mix (lest remastered). I doubt M had much to do with the lazy release the same thing AGAIN as it's Warners final project with M.
Of course I will still buy it.
Does madonna actually give a shit about anything other than making money these days?!
Madonna always has on her mind to please her fans coz as she always says in her interviews she more than loves them.
the versions listed cannot be true .. there's too many LP versions on CD2 to fit on the CD.
if it's true i will not buy the cd
we have internet to download old stuff
I'm so sad abot thins missed opportunity, it will not be any wonder if the album ends up being a flop much like GHV2, I was so excited and now.... cry cry cry... anyway I'll buy it, thank god madonna will start recording new stuff with Live Nation. Sticky & Sweet Tour, please don't dissapoint me again, I beg you!!!! WARNER I HATE YOU!!! FUCK OFF MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
This could not be true ...
Nothing is official until a press release comes out. Especially on Madonna.com
First CD contains aprox. 82 minutes! (max CD - 74-80 minutes)!
Wrong...in some extended technology a cd can contain up to 90 minutes.
All these people complaining here will buy the CD'S because they love Madonna and her Music. It seems like we're begging for somothing we don't have already. Most of us are disappointed, because we were entitled to own her work proplerly remastered, and because there are real gems lost on promos, vynil and so on. This greatest hits it's designed for general public, not for us die hard fans. Hold it, I am sure Madonna will always take us by surprise. Madonna has a plenty of money, she keeps going, because she loves her fans and enjoys her work. Sometimes it sucks, but can you imagine life without her??? She's fun and makes sing and dance and love. Think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate it. I'm really mad that Give It 2 Me isn't on, but Miles Away instead?? WTF??? Not to mention the order of songs is awful!! I already created this playlist since I have every version listed. It's GHV2 all over again, I bought that in support and I'm glad we are getting two new songs but they've had SO long to prepare for this and it's just LAME. So I may just download Revolver and call it a day.
The thing is that I understand that they're catering toward casual fans and possible new fans that don't have all these tracks, but it's a big slap-in-the-face to us hardcore fans. I'm not behind this at all; it's lazy. I'm sad that Madonna isn't hands-on with things like this like she used to be.
#Breaking news# this is a leak and is not real ..Warner's are fuming!!
This is a Revolver and Celebration Download , period , the rest is USELESS why? because is the same you will find at anyones garage cds collection LOL , I mean those tracks are already available to donwload everywhere for free theyre the same version prior , there is nothing new , whats the point releasing this two cds with out any kind of edition , or audio enhancement , dont the suposse the New fans get the best quality audio? WTF!
The tracklist has been updated on Madonnatribe.com. "Revolver" now closes Disc 1, "Celebration" closes Disc 2, and "Like a Prayer" and "Express Yourself" are representated by their album version and video version, respectively. (Not sure *which* video version of "EY," but either are pretty much just fine to use...)
order of the songs,, disaster,,
everybody, burning up, miles away??? they werent even hits...
hits like , ANGEL, TRUE BLUE, CAUSING A COMMOTION, HANKY PANKY, THIS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND, I'LL REMEMBER, DONT CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA. AMERICAN PIE, WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL, AMERICAN LIFE, JUMP, GET TOGETHER, GIVE IT TO ME, madonna hasnt been so succesful since american life in the united states, but songs like american life, jump, get together and give it to me have been essential for her career in this decade around the world
I HATE open your heart and papa dont preach(The immaculate collection version )they are so boring.....

I posted the original opening comment RE: the awful Immaculate Collection versions of Like a Prayer and Express Yourself being chosen over the originals.
Since this information has since been questioned (e.g. the updated tracklisting on madonnatribe.com) then this compilation may work.
The remaining Immaculate Collection versions are pretty close to the originals (not sure i'd notice Vogue being any different, or Crazy for You).
So all is good - I'm thinking the track ordering alone may make this interesting - i'm looking forward to hearing tracks 1-8 of the 2nd disc (Dress You Up and Who's That Girl finally getting some recognition)
I'm not sure about Cherish as the penultimate track (ahead of rave magic Celebration). Seems odd to me.
I'm also thinking Disc 1 contains all of the BIG HITS so may be the same running order as the one disc edition.
Any thoughts?
I think they should have released a 2-disc version and a 4-disc version of ALL singles form Everybody to Celebration. Of all the rumored tracklistings, I prefer the chronological-fanned version that started reverse-chronological on the first disc and then re-reverse on the second disc. I though that was nice. And the song selections were much better
This should have been...
CD 1:
01) Hung Up - Radio Edit
02) Music - LP Version
03) Vogue - Single Version
04) 4 Minutes - LP Edit
05) Holiday - You Can Dance Single Edit
06) La Isla Bonita - LP Version
07) Into The Groove - Original
08) Everybody - Original Promo Radio
09) Like A Prayer - Single Fade
10) Ray Of Light - Radio Edit
11) Sorry - LP Edit
12) Express Yourself - Video Version
13) Open Your Heart - Remix Edit
14) Power of Good-Bye - LP Version
15) Secret - LP Edit
16) Erotica - "You Thrill Me" Studio Version from Confessions Tour
17) Justify My Love - LP Version
18) Revolver
CD 2:
01) Like A Virgin - Original
02) Material Girl - LP Version
03) Dress You Up - Remix Edit
04) Papa Don't Preach - Video Version
05) Lucky Star - LP Edit
06) Burning Up - LP Version
07) Crazy For You - Original
08) Who's That Girl - LP Version
09) Frozen - Radio Edit
10) Miles Away - LP Edit
11) Take A Bow - LP Edit
12) Beautiful Stranger - LP Version
13) Hollywood - LP Version
14) Die Another Day - LP Version
15) Don't Tell Me - LP Edit
16) Live To Tell - LP Version
17) Give It 2 Me - LP Edit
18) Celebration
Maybe the radio edit of live to tell, that song is too long and might drag the ending of this collection.
I really wanted to see Nothing Really Matters and Nothing Fails on here. Damn it!!
It's just disgraceful that what could have been a 'celebration' of Madonna's career is just a random thrown together mess, it's like someone just pressed the 'random' button and thought, Hey, that'll do, it's only one of the most important collections in the history of music... Chronological is always the best representation of an artists career. No wonder Madge left Warners...
