Accident at the shoot of “Burning Up”

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, February 28, 2010 11 comments

ejwrw4 If you have VH1 Classic, there is a show called The Music Video Exposed. The director of "Burning Up", Steve Barron, said when M was laying in the boat on the lake, they were filming from above her using a "massive" crane. The shot wasn't lined up correctly, so when they extended the arm out until they were directly over her, the wheels of the apparatus behind them lifted off the ground, and the whole thing started to tip over. He said if they had extended the arm out even an inch or two further, the crane would have fallen on her and she "definitely would have died".

article-1253858-08773E8D000005DC-70_468x633 Madonna has persuaded hot actress Abbie Cornish to be in her film, based on the Edward VIII Abdication crisis.

The movie, W.E., tells parallel tales about Wallis Simpson in the 1930s and a contemporary woman called Wally Winthrop, who has romantic problems of her own - in addition to the fact that she's obsessed with the Duchess of Windsor's life.

Abbie, who starred opposite Ben Whishaw in Jane Campion's film Bright Star, will play the part of Wally once negotiations have been finalised.

Vera Farmiga will portray the Duchess (as revealed here first).

At the supper following last Sunday's Orange British Academy Film Awards, Vera told me her deal for W.E. had not been completed.

The participation of both actresses depends on who is cast in the two main male roles - Edward VIII, who became the Duke of Windsor after he gave up the throne for the woman he loved, and a Russian security guard, who sexually satisfies the married Wally.

The W.E. script has shown considerable improvement compared to an earlier version by Madonna and Alex Keshishian that I saw last year - there have been many drafts.

Madonna travels to Los Angeles early next month to meet with potential leading men. Then she'll head to London to inspect actors to play Edward.

The film will shoot from June on locations in London and the Home Counties, with short forays to New York and the South of France. Vera will also be in Los Angeles around the same time as Madonna.

She's a contender in the best supporting actress category for her performance, opposite George Clooney, in Jason Reitman's acclaimed best picture hopeful Up In The Air.

Australian-born Abbie first came to major attention in the film Somersault six years ago, as did Sam Worthington (who plays Jake in James Cameron's Avatar).

The addition of top producers David Parfitt and Colin Vaines gives the W.E. project a touch of class.

Madonna the Marriage Ref

marriage_ref_001

M-Tribe reader jd urban just got back from the Marriage Ref taping and here's his quick rundown about the episode.
"Madonna was in top form, cursing, boiling problems down to sex and generally holding her own against Larry David & Ricky Gervais."

"After cursing during one segment (dealing with words like "c*nt" , "c*ck" and "p*ssy whipped"), Madonna yelled "Here comes Uncle Jerry" when Seinfeld made his way out to check in (scold?) on his guests..."
"Lots of clever banter during breaks, Madonna waved, smiled, blew kisses and made contact with the more obvious fans (like me)."

Leona Lewis on Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, February 24, 2010 2 comments

W020090820405028630994 Leona Lewis finds skinny dipping "liberating".

The Happy singer admits she and her friends once stripped off and jumped into a swimming pool during a holiday to Portugal in order to cheer up one of their other pals.

She said: "I was with some girlfriends in Portugal. One of my friends was going through a hard time with her boyfriend, so we thought let's do something crazy. It was liberating."

Leona - who has been dating electrician Lou Al-Chamaa for five years - also hinted she may be tempted to follow in Madonna's footsteps and release an explicit tome, after taking inspiration from the 51-year-old singer's famous Sex book.

She said: "I have always loved Madonna. I was too young for her Sex book period, but then when I saw it I thought, 'Wow!' Good for her, if that's how she wanted to express herself. Would I express myself like that? Well, you never know..."

While she admires Madonna, Leona says there's one celebrity who has been very rude to her in the past but she refused to name them.

She told Britain's OK! magazine: "They were a monster to me. It was someone who I really looked up to, someone who inspired me. They didn't insult me, it was just the whole attitude they had. I didn't like it. And you know what? They were like it twice. The first time I was upset, the second time I was like, I'm so much bigger than that."

Meck feat Dino 'Feels Like A Prayer'

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 7 comments

Probably a bit off-topic, but here we go anyway: Meck and Dino – authors of the song “Feels Like Home” that was used in “Like a Prayer” mash-up on Madonna’s recent Sticky & Sweet Tour, released a new mix of their very successful single, this time called “Feels Like A Prayer”.

It does not include Madonna’s vocals, but the song is still quite similar to the tour version. Single will be released in the United Kingdom around the release of Sticky & Sweet Tour DVD (end of March 2010).

Liz Rosenberg leaves Warner to follow Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, February 23, 2010 7 comments

custom_1224091368765_lizrosenberg Wow! Madonna proves to be a more powerful tie than Warner Bros. for Liz Rosenberg, who's leaving the company after 39 years at the end of this month. She'll still consult with them regarding some of the top artists she's worked with, but the big story is that she will continue to represent Madonna, a very good thing for Madonna and her fans:

"No one has had a more thrilling ride than I have had during my decades at Warner Bros. Records, where I grew up and learned my craft. I was given the opportunity to work with the most talented artists in music history. I'm grateful that I will continue to represent some of these artists, in addition to several new artists. I am grateful to Tom Whalley for his tremendous support. I will miss him and my entire Warner Bros. family."

Madonna said in talks for apparel line

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, February 16, 2010 7 comments

In the growing love affair between celebrity and fashion, one of the biggest names out there is close to getting into the groove: Madonna.
The pop icon is in talks to launch a contemporary women’s collection with a group of licensees that would be sold exclusively at Macy’s, according to sources. The merchandise would include apparel, accessories, intimates and footwear. Label names under serious consideration for the product lines include Material Girl for the apparel and Truth or Dare for the lingerie and underwear.
“Truth or Dare” was the title of a 1991 film, which documented Madonna’s groundbreaking Blonde Ambition worldwide concert tour.
Madonna’s longtime publicist, Liz Rosenberg, did not return calls Monday seeking comment. A Macy’s spokesman also declined comment.

Iconix Brand Group Inc. is involved in the negotiations for the venture, according to sources, and Madonna has made visits to the company’s New York offices. Iconix is a brand management firm, which owns and licenses 21 brands, including Candie’s, Bongo, Rampage, London Fog, Rocawear, Danskin and Badgley Mischka. The brands ring up $10 billion in retail sales in total, according to the company.
An Iconix spokeswoman declined to confirm or deny a potential Madonna deal. “Iconix has no comment on this story,” she said.
However, sources said a deal is close to being signed.
Iconix has experience working with pop superstars, having re-signed Britney Spears last month to a second year representing the Candie’s brand, which is sold exclusively at Kohl’s.

Madonna transforms into "Marriage Ref" for TV

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, February 14, 2010 0 comments

Twice-divorced pop star Madonna will take on a new profession -- marriage referee -- when she makes a rare television appearance on an upcoming show from comedian Jerry Seinfeld about feuding couples.

The "Material Girl," who divorced her British movie director husband Guy Ritchie in 2008, will be one of a panel of celebrities on "The Marriage Ref" who will decide which spouse should be declared "winner" of a domestic spat filmed in their own homes.

Madonna is listed along with British comedian Ricky Gervais and American Larry David in an episode to be filmed in New York before a studio audience next week.

The pop superstar, who was previously married to actor Sean Penn, has made few appearances on TV shows that do not involve performances or interviews.

Actors Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, and "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria are also among those expected to make up the rotating celebrity panel on "The Marriage Ref", which debuts on NBC on Feb 28.

"The Marriage Ref" sees the return to TV of the creative talents of the popular star of 1990s U.S. comedy series "Seinfeld".

The light-hearted show is one of the centerpieces of NBC's efforts to revamp its prime-time line-up following the axing of its five nights a week "Jay Leno Show" after just five months.

Madonna, the queen of pop, has her eye on a king

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, February 14, 2010 0 comments

She's set to direct "W.E.," a biopic about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating from the throne to marry his divorcee lover.

Vera Farmiga ("Up in the Air") is eyeing the plum role of Simpson, who precipitated the most severe constitutional crisis in the English monarchy in the 20th century after Edward proposed to her, only months into his reign.

There is no word yet on who will play King Edward.

Madonna is writing the script with Alex Keshishian, who directed the multihyphenate in "Truth or Dare."

Former Miramax exec Colin Vaines and David Parfitt are producing the pic. CAA is handling domestica sales while IM Global has international.

This will which will be Madonna's second directorial effort; her first, "Filth and Wisdom," preemed at Berlin in 2008. Simpson led a colorful life, having been married twice before her romance with Edward. The two of them, who lived the rest of their lives as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, spent the best part of three decades living a life of leisure as social celebrities around the world.

Madonna in Rio for Carnival

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, February 10, 2010 0 comments

Madonna leads a charge of celebrities descending on Rio de Janeiro for the city’s famously sexy Carnival starting this weekend.

The pop star triggered screams from fans as she checked into an up-market hotel on Ipanema beach with her children in tow, Brazil’s Globo news website reported.

The frenzy added to a crowd already gathered in front of the hotel because of another singing guest lodged there – Beyonce, who was wrapping up a series of pre-Carnival Brazilian concerts as part of a Latin American tour.

Other celebrities expected to show up for Carnival, which runs from Saturday to next Tuesday, include Alicia Keys and Paris Hilton, according to star-gazing website Ofuxico.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Lindsay Lohan, however, have cancelled their plans to visit, the daily O Dia says.
