Madonna for "Yediot Acharonot"

Posted by Sylar On Friday, July 31, 2009 2 comments

Yedioth Ahronoth exclusive: Madonna writes about her journey into world of Kabbalah

There is an old cliché: When the student is ready the teacher appears.

I had traveled the world many times over, performed in soccer stadiums, appeared in films, dined with state leaders, collaborated with great artists and achieved what most people would view as a high level of success but I still felt something was missing in my life.
I was pregnant with my daughter, almost 14 years ago and I had just finished the film Evita and realized I had spent my whole life worrying but myself, and that I would soon be responsible for someone else's life.

I was raised a catholic and my father was very religious but none of my questions ever really got answered when it came to trying to understand why people suffered in the world or what the meaning of life was all about.
And suddenly I thought, "What will I teach my child about the important things in life?"
I was practicing Yoga for years and studying Sanskrit. I had read many books by the great Yogi Masters and Indian Avatars. I studied Buddhism and the teachings of the Dali Lama. I studied Taoism and the Art of War.

I read about the Gnostics and the early Christians. I learned a lot and I was very inspired but I still could not connect the dots and find a way to take this knowledge and apply it to my daily life.

I was looking for an answer. I went to a dinner party in L.A. A woman sitting next to me was telling me about a class she was taking from a Rabbi. She said it was so inspiring and that I should come along. I asked her what it was about. She said "Life." I asked her what it was called. She said "Kabbalah."
I told her I wasn't Jewish and she said: "What difference does it make what it's called and what religious upbringing you have had if you are inspired?" She had a point.

So I went to the class and sat in the back and I listened to a man named Eitan teach the class. I heard what he had to say and I knew at this moment my life would never be the same. I began to go to the classes regularly and sit in the class with my notebook. No one bothered me. I took notes. I met with Eitan privately and asked a lot of questions. The thing that was encouraged the most was to enquire further.

All the questions I had about life began to be answered and I realized I had finally found a "belief system" or philosophy that incorporated Science and Spirituality. I was learning about Physics, Astronomy, Nature and the laws of Cause and Effect. All the puzzle pieces started falling into place.

Life no longer seemed like a series of Random events. I started to see patterns in life. I woke up. I began to be conscious of my words and my actions and to really see the results of them. I also began to see that being Rich and Famous wasn't going to bring me lasting fulfillment and that it was not the end of the journey; that it was the beginning of the journey.

I have been studying with Eitan consistently since that first class and it was only a matter of time before I met Michael Berg, whose father Rav Berg, comes from a long line of Kabbalists and was the teacher of Eitan. Michael Berg is a very unique human being. He might be the smartest person I know. At first he seemed quiet and shy, conservative and even perhaps a bit naïve. But ask him a question on any subject and you will find yourself swimming in an ocean of information.

It's astounding what he knows and what he has accomplished at such a young age. The fact that he translated 22 volumes of the Zohar from Aramaic into Hebrew and English is remarkable. The funny thing about Michael is that he is as comfortable and knowledgably about discussing the teachings of the Ari as he is of discussing his favorite Seinfeld episode.

He knows more about Pop Culture and what's going on in the world than anyone I know and yet his desire to really affect change in the world and the compassion he feels for people who are suffering is unparalleled.

When Michael gets up to tell a story in front of a room full of people there is never a dry eye in the house including his own. I am lucky to call him my friend.

He has a child with Down Syndrome and it is perhaps because of this that he feels the need to come to the rescue of children who are living in challenging situations or abject poverty.

We were both looking for a project to do with children and low and behold a Malawian woman appeared and told us about the plight of over 1 million children orphaned by AIDS in a small landlocked country in Africa. Before we knew it we were visiting Malawi and that was the birth of our foundation: Raising Malawi. Of course now that I know what I know, I realize that this did not happen by chance.

Once again the students were ready and the teacher appeared. In this case the children of Malawi are the teachers. They have taught me so much. And they continue to teach me. As do Michael and Eitan.

“Celebration” Single co-written by Joe Echo

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, July 29, 2009 3 comments
An Irish singer-songwritter has co-written Madonna’s new single – and it’s destined to be a massive hit. The track, called Celebration, was co-written by Joe Echo with Madonna and her producers Paul Oakenfold and Ian Green.

And pals said Joe, whose real name is Ciaran Gribbin, is thrilled Celebration will be the first single released from Madonna’s greatest hits album.

An insider said, “Celebration” is the title track of Madonna’s greatest hits album of the same name. “The album will be released on September 25 but the single will be available for download from August 4. The single will be played first on RTE 2FM on Monday after 1pm.”

Of course Ciaran is over the moon about the whole thing – he’s delighted to be involved with the new Madonna single. He’s had a great year so far. Joe Echo went recently to #1 in the American download dance album chart as a remix of his track All My Sundays is included in Paul Oakenfold’s chart-topping album Perfecto Vegas.

And his current single The Heart That Knows Desire is beginning to pick up airplay from radio. In the past Ciaran was frontman of the band Leya and he also provided backing vocals or Snow Patrol on their multi platinum selling album Eyes Open.

At the moment he is working on Joe Echo’s debut album which is due out in 2010. The insider added: “Word about Ciaran’s talents is spreading fast.”

More Celebration and Revolver news

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, July 26, 2009 15 comments
The remixes for the first single off the package, Celebration, are signed by Benny Benassi, Chris Lake, Felguk, Johnny Vicious and of course the producer of the original track Paul Oakenfold.

As for the special guest of the video we mentioned a few days ago, we can now report it's the lovely Lourdes Leon herself. Madonna's daughter will make her debut in her mum's Celebration music video.

We have also been told that Warner and Madonna's camp are very happy with the positive buzz surrounding Celebration and planning the release of the second single off the GH. Revolver, the second new song contained in the new compilation, will be released as the second single sometime in September 2009.

Fans should not wait until mid-September to get a hold of the new Madonna track though, as the digital download will be available by the end of August in Germany (and most likely in the rest of the European market).
"Celebration" will hit German radios on August 3rd, premiering at 2 PM.

Here is your first look of the Princess Selenia (voiced by Madonna) for the new adventures of Arthur and the Minimoys "The Revenge of Maltazard".

According to director Luc Besson, "this second episode has more of a teen feel than the first. In the very same way as Harry Potter."

Arthur and the Minimoys "The Revenge of Maltazard" will premiere Christmas 2009.

Are you ready to Celebrate?

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, July 21, 2009 19 comments
MadonnaTribe has heard more interesting tidbits about the video for "Celebrate", the lead single off Madonna's upcoming Greatest Hits double CD.
The concept behind the video matches the idea of celebrating the entire Madonna career that is what "Celebrate" ultimately is about. Just as the new song lyrics are a tongue in cheek tribute to the back catalogue of the Queen of Pop, the video will include a trip down memory lane to those looks and outfits that made Madonna the Icon all the world knows and loves.
Expect fans and impersonator bringing back to life some of the most classic Madonna imagery, in a way that will remind you of the 1999 MTV Awards tribute. And get ready for a very cool surprise, because we heard that the one who will impersonate the Like a Virgin bride will be a very, very special guest.

Madonna joins forces with artist Marilyn Minter

Madonna is set to team up with controversial artist Marilyn Minter for a top secret collaboration.
The pop superstar has added one of Minter's photographs, of a giant pair of pink lips, to the backdrop of her ongoing Sticky & Sweet world tour and has requested a meeting with the New York-based artist.
Minter, who is known for erotically-charged style, admits she has agreed to work with Madonna - but the project is so secret even she doesn't know what the Holiday hitmaker is planning.
She tells the New York Daily News, 'She wants to come by my studio, so I guess I will find out then. Maybe she wants me to photograph her, or to work on a video.'

Madonna Meets Family Of Stage Collapse Victim

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, July 19, 2009 2 comments
0007 US pop star Madonna has flown into the French city of Marseille to visit the family of a stage hand who was killed in an accident while preparing her concert.

The black-clad singer landed at Marseille-Marignane airport and sped off with a bodyguard in a black Mercedes.

They went to meet the family of 52-year-old Charles Criscenzo who died along with a 23-year-old Briton when part of the singer's stage collapsed.

Eight more workers who were preparing the city's Stade Velodrome for the concert were injured when a crane toppled over and the section of stage fell. Madonna is travelling to two Marseille hospitals to see three workers who remain in care since the incident on Thursday.

One of the patients is an American in a serious condition, according to health officials. Madonna brought her two adopted children with her, but they left the airport in another car.

The mayor's special events deputy Maurice Di Nocera said: "Madonna wanted to come and visit those injured and the families of those killed. She wanted something private and discreet."

The star is not allowed to visit the Stade Velodrome because an inquiry into the accident has begun. The investigation by French prosecutors could lead to manslaughter charges. In particular, they are looking at a possible error in how the stage roof had been raised, a judicial official said.

A stage technician, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the roof would normally have been hauled into place by four motors, but one of these had been replaced on Thursday by the crane that collapsed.

The concert has been cancelled. Madonna's next tour date is a sell-out gig in Barcelona's Olympic Stadium.

Latest report from the location of Madonna's new video

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, July 19, 2009 0 comments
MadonnaTribe community member Lombo1983 reports from the location of the Celebrate video at Metropol:

"Last night I was at the Metropol, every fan came up with a Madonna look. The fashion stylist there was looking at the fans' various outfits, looks and memorabilia and in case they were not what they wanted they helped with extra clothes and stuff they had ready there.

They used a total of 25 fans and among the look that were chosen there were Like a virgin, Cowgirl, Gheisha, Hung up, 1987 look, DWT look and more. Reportedly director Jonas Akerlund stood there on the set for the all time and apparently Madonna tried on several wigs. Madonna did some rehearsals for the video on Friday but her bits were filmed yesterday. They apparently filmed for 8 hours just the same part of the song over and over and they never played the full song. These footage will be edited with the parts filmed last week at the Gold restaurant and the fans.

The fans taking part to the video first danced to the new dancey song all together, then they were filmed separately while dancing on his/her own in front a white screen.

The final editing will probably happen in New York and security there revealed that Milan was the location chosen since the start since Dolce & Gabbana offered their Metropol space reportedly for free."

Thanks to Lombo1983 for his report!

Madonna's Celebrate lyrics

Posted by Sylar On Saturday, July 18, 2009 5 comments
I think you wanna' come over, yeah I heard it through the grapevine.
Are you drunk or you sober? Think about it, doesn't matter
and if it makes you feel good then I say do it,
I don't know what you're waiting for

Feel my temperature rising
There's too much heat I'm gonna' lose control
Do you want to go higher, get closer to the fire,
I don't know what you're waiting for

Come join the party, yeah
Coz' anybody just won't do.
Let's get this started, yeah
Coz' everybody wants to party with you.

Boy you got a reputation, but you're gonna' have to prove it
I see a little hesitation,
Am I gonna' have to show you that if it feels right, get on your marks
Step to the beat boy that's what it's for

Put your arms around me
When it gets too hot we can go outside
But for now just come here, let me whisper in your ear
An invitation to the dance tonight

Come join the party, it's a celebration
Anybody just won't do
Let's get this started, no more hesitation
Coz' everybody wants to party with you

Haven't I seen you somewhere before?
You look familiar…
You wanna' dance? …Yeah.
I guess I just don't recognize you with your cloths on… (laughs)
What are you waiting for?

Come join the party, it's a celebration
Anybody just won't do
Let's get this started, no more hesitation
Coz' everybody wants to party with you X 2

Boy you've got it, it's a celebration
Coz' anybody just won't do
Let's get it started, no more hesitation
Coz' everybody wants to party with you

Boy you've got it
Coz' anybody just won't do
Let's get it started, no more hesitation
Coz' everybody wants to party with you

Stage company speaks

Posted by Sylar On Saturday, July 18, 2009 0 comments
E S Group, the company hired to build Madonna's stage for the now cancelled concert in Marseille, where two workers died and eight others injured, have released a statement regarding the unfortunate accident.

The company is also responsible for a collapsed stage at Dodger's Stadium, Los Angeles, this past November for Madonna's show there.

Their rep said:
"We were incredibly saddened by the tragic accident during the construction of a stage at the Velodrome at Marseille. Our thoughts at this current time go out to the families and loved ones of the two men who died and to those who have been injured.
Two of our Directors have flown out to Marseille to visit the injured and to get a better understanding of what caused the accident. At present, it would not be appropriate to speculate on potential causes of the accident, but we are working closely with the French authorities to investigate what caused this incident. This is normal practice for such an incident and we will provide a further update as soon as it is possible.
There is absolutely no technical or other connection between the incident at the Dodgers Stadium in November 2008 and the tragic accident yesterday (July 16 2009) at the Velodrome in Marseille."

Madonna's tribute during Udine concert

Posted by Sylar On Friday, July 17, 2009 3 comments
madonna_tears_501 Tonight during her concert in Udine just before "You Must Love Me" Madonna in tears said a few words about the tragedy that occurred in Marseille this afternoon:

"Before I continue the show I want to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today. I don't know if you've heard. Two men building my show in Marseille where we're going next - the crane fell and we don't know why. (Madonna names them). I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families. Let's take a moment to appreciate our family, loved ones, friends around us".

Madonna cried throughout ''You Must Love Me'' and before "Ray of Light' she once again paid tribute to the two men saying "Let's give it up for the two Charlies".

Unfortunately 1 person has died and 6 people injured (two of them seriously).

The show is now cancelled!

According to the first info, part of the stage collapsed due to the collapse of a crane.

''If it makes you feel good, then I say do it!'' Madonna celebrates another decade of music!
That's just one line Madonna chants in her new funlovin' single "Celebrate", taken from her upcoming Greatest Hits compilation tentatively released in September.
But is she recycling herself? Or is this yet another reinvention?
With additional lyrics like "I don't know what you're waiting for" and "Step to the beat boy that's what it's for", she gives a new kick to her classic tracks and pays a brilliant reverence to them in a genuine way only she can. You will all be able to judge for yourself as the single is being shipped to radio stations as we speak, to be debuted towards the end of this month.
Furthermore, the excellent mutual works of Madonna and Paul Oakenfold has fruited a definite club number. An old school, revamped Madonna track, which also includes a sexy speaking part that takes us back to one of her very first hits, "Everybody". We even dare to say "Spotlight" comes to mind for its freshness and spontaneity. Expect a lot of “Yeah's”. Fans will certainly jump off their sits to this dance piece.
Now will we be getting a brand new music video? Let's sit back and see.
The second fresh track landing in the Greatest Hits is "Revolver", produced by Frank E, featuring a short and efficient rap by Lil Wayne, similar to what we've heard on his initial and original version for the song. Still it remains an absolute Madonna track. Her vocals are high pitched, almost juvenile. Music wise, not much was altered, same for lyrical content. This however is the only collaboration by Frank E and Madonna and the result rocks.
So what didn't make it?
"Broken", an original track written and produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold, that was earlier mistaken for "I'm sorry". Another light dance track in which she repeatedly asks us (or the media?) if we don't feel sorry for her.
Another discarded track off the hits album would be a song that was written back in 2001 by Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï, we assume for her underrated "American Life" album, and reworked by DJ Oakenfold for the current CD. "Cool" would be its working title. An in-your-face upbeat track. This one might actually get a proper release in some form, so we wouldn't want to spill the beans just yet but it’s an overt teasing Madonna track.
We are up for an inspiring new era, time to get the celebration started!

Calvin happy with Madonna remix

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, July 15, 2009 0 comments
Calvin03 Calvin Harris has admitted that he feels "privileged" that the likes of Madonna and Pendulum are sampling his music.
Madonna sampled his smash hit I'm Not Alone for a dance version of Frozen on her Sticky And Sweet tour, while drum and bass rockers Pendulum have performed their take on the song at Glastonbury and MTV's Oxegen festival.
Calvin said at Oxegen: "I never imagined when I made it in my little purple room in Glasgow in my flat that it would reach far and wide as it has - it's always a privilege."

"Celebrate" is set to hit radio waves around the world on July 28th, but those who attended the Sticky & Sweet Tour already managed to hear a glimpse of the lead single from the new Madonna collection titled "Celebration".
"Celebrate" can indeed be heard in the show during the "Holiday" number. As reported, bits of both the new single and Madonna's oldie "Everybody" are sampled in the song, although fans should not be confused by the vocals introducing the song (Celebration, Celebration) which are those from Holiday and only a hint to "Celebrate" which doesn't feature vocals borrowed from Madonna's 1983 megahit but it's a completely new, kick ass uptempo anthem in pure Madonna style.

Speaking of new songs, "Revolver" is now the only second new track to be part of the Greatest Hits package, while "Broken", the other track produced by Paul Oakenfold won't be released.
Last but not least, Madonna fans will be happy to know that "Celebration", the hits collection, is a double album!

The Scoop on Madonna’s New Couture Costumes

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, July 07, 2009 0 comments
Madonna looks fiercer than ever on stage these days, and she has one man to thank for that On the opening night of the Material Girl’s Sticky & Sweet tour’s second leg July 4 in London, Madonna wowed fans with a new “super couture, sensual, Goth, bondage” costume that Givenchy Haute Couture’s Riccardo Tisci designed for her opening act. “What I wanted for the opening was to give a very iconic view of Madonna,” Tisci tells PEOPLE exclusively. “She’s wearing an outfit that will make history. I wanted to do something even stronger (than what he designed for her in the tour’s first leg) because she wants to be stronger.” Working with the Queen of Pop was easy, says Tisci. “I just met her six months ago and I’m completely in love with her,” he says. “She’s an artist but she let me express myself, which is rare. She knew what she liked from my collection and wanted me to translate that for her on stage.” He also designed a new dress for another part of her show. “She said she wanted to do colors,” he says. “I said why not? So we did fluorescent rosary necklaces (over a black dress.)” Tisci was also very impressed with Madonna’s ability to remain calm in the midst of so much activity, rehearsing and putting her tour together. And yet, he says, “She was very calm and Zen. She is a Leo like me. For Leos to be calm and Zen takes time because we are very energetic. She was amazing.”

And while Madonna may be strong, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t deeply feeling the death of friend Michael Jackson, paying homage to him midway through her Saturday night’s show at London’s O2 arena — where Jackson was scheduled to kick off his “This Is It” tour on July 13 — when one of her dancers burst onto the stage dressed in Jackson’s trademark fedora, sequined jacket, white t-shirt and white glove, boogeying to a medley of his megahits including “Wanna Be Starting Something.” “All right people!” Madonna said afterward. “Let’s give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known: Michael Jackson! Long live the King!!!” And we say long live her Majesty.

[Rumour] Madge for X Factor

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, July 07, 2009 4 comments
Madonna is in talks to perform on this year’s X Factor, TV Biz can reveal.
And the Queen of Pop is one of a number of top acts Simon Cowell has his eye on.
Others being lined up to perform on the ITV1 talent show include outrageous chart sensation Lady GaGa and Umbrella singer Rihanna.
He is also dead set on getting Robbie Williams. The ex-Take That star has spent years in the wilderness and Cowell is desperate to get him to make a comeback on the show.
