Paul Oakenfold on supporting Madonna on tour

Posted by Sylar On Thursday, May 28, 2009 0 comments
Paul Oakenfold is supporting the pop superstar on her ‘Sticky and Sweet’ world tour and admits it’s his job to match the pop superstar’s incredible live energy.
He said: “Planning my set for a Madonna show is tough because she covers the whole spectrum. It’s a white, black, gay, straight crowd, aged between 15 and 60.

“It’s no good making it too underground. Despite the big venues
it’ll still be clubby and I’ll get the crowd going. And it doesn’t take much to get Madonna in the mood.
Oakenfold, 45, has supported the 50-year-old singer - who is set to play two shows at London’s 02 arena in July - before and insists it’s a “privilege” sharing the same bill as her.

He told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “
Her fans adore her. I remember we did four sell-out shows in Buenos Aires in front of 80,000 people each night. It’s a privilege for crowds like that.”
The DJ is also producing
three new songs for Madonna’s upcoming ‘Greatest Hits’ release.
He said: “We’ve been in New York working on the tunes. She’s a
truly lovely lady, but she’s the boss so everyone will just have to wait for the new stuff.”

Mirwais says that after producing Madonna he refused to produce J-Lo and many others because as he puts it "Once you've worked with the best there's no use to downgrade".

She's Broken but she's not Sorry

Posted by Sylar On Thursday, May 28, 2009 3 comments
Following today's report by Attitude magazine about the titles of new Madonna tracks, we have heard the buzz that there isn't actually a song titled "I'm Sorry" but that's just something Madonna says in the song that is at the moment called "Broken".
The other new song by Oakenfold has been correctly reported as being titled "Celebrate" but it is not a rework of the classic "Holiday".
It is indeed a new party song. But we heard that "Celebrate" and "Holiday" will be indeed mashed together along with "Everybody" in a brand new number of the Sticky And Sweet tour debuting in London on July 4th.
This medley is supposed to replace "Heartbeat" in the setlist while a Rock version of "Dress You Up", as previously reported here, is rehearsed as a replacement of "Bordeline" in the show.

New track names announced

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, May 27, 2009 13 comments
British gay lifestyle magazine Attitude posted an article on their website about the new Madonna’s tracks, produced by Paul Oakenfold. You can read it below.

Nobody else knows about this (well aside from Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, some studio people, her manager, friends, Lourdes, Rocco, David and several hundread nannies) but we can exclusively reveal the name of the new songs that Paul Oakenfold has recorded with her royal highness, all time queen of the pop fiefdom and snout rubberer of the puffed up and self righteous in the poop (ie Madonna).
We just got off the blower with legendary superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold for a little interview we will be running in our July issue out at the end of June in our nightlife section. Paul is doing his amazing thing all over the world and has been Djing for the Madonna tour of last year which returns to London on Pride day July 4th before going to Manchester and then heading out into the wider world. So taken with the Oakenfold was she that she invited him into the studio to work on some new tracks for possible inclusion on Madonna’s highly anticipated new Greatest Hits album due for release sometime this year.
Paul said Madonna was highly professional, he learned a lot and that the new tracks are ‘lyrically classic Madonna with an edgy modern sound’.
‘Oooh’ we gasped, as we help the phone on a cord under our chin, and whipped up an omelette with the other hand, in a Thelma and Louise serving omelettes in a Texas Diner kind of way.
He told us the tracks were sitting right there next to him and he told us what they are called. He didn’t know which ones would be the Greatest Hits CD and didn’t know when it would be out, though he imagined the run up to Christmas ‘when most greatest hits come out’. Our other pixie sources have told us that it may well be before that (ie Madonna wrote in a fan newsletter that it would be spring).
So, the song titles are… (in no order)

‘Broken’
‘I’m sorry’

and
‘Celebrate’.

So there we are. We don’t know what this says about our glorious leader’s emotional state – the first two we decided were about her sadness at splitting from Guy but then we thought maybe she is saying ‘celebrate my freedom, I’m sorry I waited so long and I’ve broken the bed with Jesus’.
But who knows.
We are hovering our hands over our crystal balls in a mystical manner and predict that the album may well just be called
MADONNA CELEBRATE. But that is just a guess, because we’re slightly OCD.
Yay.

New tour costumes by Ricardo Tisci

Riccardo Tisci’s costume design duties continue to grow. The designer said he’s creating new looks for Madonna’s ongoing tour (he also deigned costumes for the first part of record breaking Sticky & Sweet Tour), and also for Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons as the band tours Europe this summer. Tisci described his creations for Antony as “men’s, women’s and couture all together” for a singer who is “between Klaus Nomi and Edith Piaf. His energy is so strong,” he enthused.

Jesus on Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, May 26, 2009 1 comments
Brazilian model Jesus Luz has spoken publicly for the first time about his relationship with Madonna- blasting reports of an impending wedding and branding the singer "nothing but a friend".

The Material Girl met Luz in December (08) at a photoshoot for W magazine, which saw the pair pose for a series of provocative photos, weeks before Madonna's divorce from filmmaker Guy Ritchie was finalised in January (09). The couple has since been snapped jet-setting around the globe, sparking speculation Madonna had taken Luz on as her lover and plans to marry him in a Kabbalah commitment ceremony. But in a candid new interview on Brazilian TV show Fantastico, the 22 year old has downplayed his relationship with the superstar. He says, "She is someone I truly admire, a friend who is in my life, who I have worked with, and who I keep in touch with. I can't say anything else besides that. She is a friend, and nothing but a friend."

And Luz insists he isn't bothered by the international press labelling him Madonna's toyboy. He adds: "Actually I have never cared about what other people say about me because if I let people's negativity enter my life then I will not be able to stay focused and follow my path."

DJ Enferno on working with Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, May 24, 2009 0 comments
DJ Enferno - known to his friends and family as Eric Jao - is from Fairfax and grew up in Northern Virginia. He’ll be spinning at Ultra Bar on Saturday night. He spent eight months touring with Madonna last year, but he’s stopped home for a bit of a break before going on her European summer tour.

So what’s it like being on the road with Madonna?

She has so much knowledge– she’s been in the business for so long, she’s got so many good ideas, and she’s really witty,” he said during an interview with FOX 5. “That was one surprising thing that I found out about her. She’s really sharp and she’ll kind of bust your chops a little bit.”

DJ Enferno says he landed his gig with Madonna after the music director for the tour saw him perform in Orlando.

New Madonna on the way!

Posted by Sylar On Thursday, May 21, 2009 8 comments
New Madonna music is on the way...
According to DJ FrankE, who spent some quality time with her in the studio earlier this month working on an electro-pop track that everyone is now identifying as the Madonna rendition of "Revolver".
Frank E certainly has a unique approach to the internet and a tongue in cheek consideration of how the show biz marketing works, but chances are that he's not wrong at all... Here's what he says:
"New Madonna on the way! Madonna fans - make sure to keep asking her for it. Maybe she'll put it out sooner".

Victoria Beckham, explaining how she was "overwhelmed" when Madonna wore one of her high-end dresses to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party last February.
The party is not the only time Madonna has donned a dress from Victoria's range a she sported a tight-fitting frock from the line when she took part in the "Blame it on Rio" photoshoot for W magazine last year.

Donna Summer on Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, May 17, 2009 5 comments
Disco Queen Donna Summer will be soon back with a new record and says that Pop Queen Madonna is the right example to look at if you want to have a long and lasting career:

"I was sitting around thinking I should do something. I was thinking about design school. A friend said, 'Are you out of your mind? Do an album.' But I like privacy and I like my space. I like being with my family. You have to be in the right frame of mind. You can't be like 'don't touch me' to your fans or saying 'I don't want to sign autographs.' I think I was exhausted for a lot of years. I have to take my hat off to people like Madonna. They keep doing it."

Madonna denies plan to marry Jesus

Despite whispers of wedding bells, Madonna and her boy toy Jesus Luz have no plans to marry, a rep for the singer tells In Touch. “This is completely and totally not true,” her spokesperson says.
Reports emerged on May 14 that the 22-year-old Brazilian hunk’s father, Luis Heitor Pinto da Luz, announced that his model son and the Material Girl, 50, would tie the knot in a Kabbalah service in New York. “The ceremony [that] will link up my son Jesus Luz and Madonna only confirms that he is extremely happy,” he allegedly told Brazilian magazine Quem.
The star’s rep further denies that the proud papa spoke at all about the alleged nuptials to the mag. “Jesus’ father didn’t make any statement on this subject,” she adds. Madonna, who split from husband Guy Ritchie last fall, started dating her much-younger boyfriend in December.

Sticky & Sweet Tour II: Two Classics are back!

Posted by Sylar On Saturday, May 16, 2009 10 comments
prrrrr The extension of the Madonna tour is about to start in less than two months and MadonnaTribe reports a few things buzzing around.
Rehearsals are planned to take place in New York and starting at the beginning of June. They will approximately go on for a month before flying to London for the premiere on July 4th.

As for the changes in the Sticky & Sweet set list a couple of beloved old classics will be replacing two songs of the 2008 line-up. The songs considered at the moment are the 1983 First Album classic hit Holiday, making its comeback in a Madonna tour and Dress You Up, the old fan favourite from Like A Virgin!

The inclusion of such classic songs will surely convince the people who were unsure about this tour extension that Madonna is once again trying something new, by strengthening her already successful show of 2008, reinventing it by adding more fan favourite oldies but goodies!

The organisers of the Madonna show have decided to allocate 5000 additional tickets which will be released on general sale May 19. Reportedly, the demand for the precious tickets has been so great that a decision was made to release a further batch. There has been no comment from the organisers whether the increase of capacity will bear on the safety of the people who are in the pit.

Tickets can now be purchased nationwide from Ticketpro or online, at www.ticketpro.com

When Madonna first announced at the beginning of May that she will perform in Sofia, the news became a complete sensation.

Madonna’s first ever concert in Bulgaria will be on Saturday August 29 2009 in Sofia at 8pm at Vassil Levski National Stadium. The concert, one of the entertainment highlights of the year, is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans not just from Bulgaria but from all over South East Europe, proving a stiff test for Bulgarian police.

The most expensive tickets, for those seeking to stay inside the Golden Circle just metres from Madonna, will cost 200 leva. People willing to stand in front of the stage will pay 150 leva.
The cheapest tickets, in the pit, cost 100 leva. Seat prices will vary between 110, 135 and 165 leva depending on location.

Madonna’s concert in Bulgaria is part of her Sticky & Sweet Tour in Europe. She will reportedly arrive with a crew of 250 people, and enough equipment to make her concert the biggest show Bulgarian fans have ever seen.

RaVaughn clears rumours about Revolver net demo

Posted by Sylar On Wednesday, May 13, 2009 0 comments
rav The big buzz that has been going on in the fan forums since a few days is all about the snippets, that have been leaked onto the internet, of the original demo (not sung by Madonna), of the new song that the Queen Of Pop has recently recorded in the studio and that is titled "Revolver".

Our long time friend and forum member Tastyboy had the chance to speak to RaVaughn, the vocalist that has worked as a backing singer for many R&b artists and that has confirmed that it's actually her singing in the demo and not "Shawnna featuring Jackie Boyz", as the leaked snipped has been mislabeled.

"I did record the original female demo 'Revolver'", adding that "The Jackie Boyz" wrote it and asked me to come demo it for them. Los of the Jackie Boys recorded it originally and they wanted a female vocal on it so I went in and did it."

Deducing that "Revolver" reached Madonna when DJ Frank E submitted it to her while recently working together in the studio for her Greatest Hits package, the song had been already submitted (and probably turned down) by a few artists: "It was said to be pitched to Katy Perry and Flo-Rida, he was supposed to rap on it", RaVaughn told our friend. Commenting about her demo that leaked onto the internet RaVaughn said: "I didn't even know a lot of people heard the demo. I knew it got leaked, but wasn't aware that so many people were in to it!"

Madonna fans looking to buy concert tickets through ticket-vendors Lippupiste and Lippupalvelu faced jammed phone lines and glitches with internet booking services on Monday.

Last week, concert orginisers announced that a further 5,000 tickets would be released on Monday for megastar Madonna’s summer concert in Helsinki. Two thousand of the tickets were for the best seats at the concert stadium.

Tickets for Madonna’s concert went on sale at Lippupiste ticket outlets on Monday morning. Ticket prices range from 99 to 119 euros. Concert organisers decided to release additional tickets due to exceptionally high demand.

Madonna will take the stage in front of 80, 000 die-hard fans at Jätkäsaari in Helsinki on August 6th. Her show is the largest public event ever to be staged in Finland.

Her phenomenally successful “Sticky & Sweet Tour” is the top grossing tour in history for a solo artist.

Promo video for ''Miles Away'' at Virgin in Paris

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, May 10, 2009 3 comments
A member of MadonnaTribe forum was shopping at the Virgin Megastore shop at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris when a promo video for Madonna's "Miles Away" was aired on the video screens.
"The video consists in a mix of professional footage of the Sticky & Sweet performance of "Miles Away" and backstage/behind the scenes clips filmed in black and white).
The audio used for the video seemed to be the radio edit of the song and it was not a live audio recording.
The clip was used as a promotion for Hard Candy. Considering the editing of the video, I assume this is a real promo video from Warner, Live Nation or whoever owns the rights to these images."
As you remember, sources at Warner Music Netherlands mentioned a similar video to be released to promote the "Miles Away" single, but this never materialized... so far.

Listen: Demo of a new song “Revolver”

20081015_madgesguns_560x375 A fan site of American rapper Lil Wayne posted two clips of a song, which was supposed to feature Madonna (alongside Lil Wayne). It was later confirmed that the female voice in the second clips belongs to some other singer.

The clips are actually from a demo version of a new song from the upcoming greatest hits collection. Lil Wayne is not a part of the final product and it’s a solo song. A member of Madonna Fanzine reported that Madonna named the song after one of her husband's films – it is assumed to be called ‘Revolver’.

Lady Gaga 'Humbled' By Madonna Coming To Her Show

Posted by Sylar On Tuesday, May 05, 2009
f you think that Lady Gaga has gotten used to being a pop superstar, think again. No one was as surprised as the New York City native herself to see that the Queen of Pop, Madonna, took some time out of her busy schedule to catch the "Poker Face" singer's show at New York's Terminal 5 on Saturday."I was very humbled that Madonna came to the show," Gaga told MTV News on Monday. "And I had been hearing all week that she was going to come, and I was like, 'Oh, OK,' and I didn't want to talk about it or tell anyone 'cause I thought it was kind that she would want to come at all."
What made it even more surprising for Gaga was that she didn't think Madonna had any idea who she was, despite her hit songs and performance on "American Idol" earlier this season. But what really pleased the singer was seeing that Madge made her concert a family night.

"I was really excited to see that [Madonna's daughter] Lourdes was there, and that made me really happy 'cause during the show I noticed some beautiful spirit of a girl dancing," she recalled. "And I didn't know who it was and I just kept waving to her."
It wasn't until the set was over that she learned that the girl was Madonna's daughter. "Then when the show was over, I said, 'Oh, there's this sweet, young girl up there, and she was dancing her pants off.' And someone said, 'Lourdes had green pants on.' And I was like, 'Oh my God, it was Lourdes and she was dancing.' It really got me going. [Madonna's] a good mom, so it's nice."
Gaga will also be happy to hear that the legendary singer slipped out unnoticed. "I was hoping and praying she would get out safely," she said. "If she got spotted she would have been trampled like the queen she is."

Madonna at 2009 Costume Institute Gala

Source: Just Jared

Kate Moss with a gold turban, Victoria Beckham in pink polka dots and Madonna wearing designer bunny ears. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York last night lived up to its reputation as one of fashion’s most anticipated red carpet events of the year.
The annual ball, which celebrates the museum’s annual fashion exhibition, this year titled "The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion", brought out the who’s who of New York society, fashion and modelling - and ensured many new entries into the Best and Worst Dressed celebrity lists.
The worst offender appeared to be Madonna, dressed in a garish 80s-inspired ensemble by Louis Vuitton, straight from their Fall Winter collection at Paris fashion week. The 50-year-old singer walked the red carpet in a navy blue sleeveless ruched mini dress with a puffed skirt, teamed with thigh-high black calf leather boots and jewelled leather fingerless gloves. Her teal coloured hair piece - actually designer Louis Vuitton "bunny ears" - was tied around a top knot, making Madonna look more like a glamorous cleaning lady than the fashion chameleon she usually is.
Asked to share her style secrets, the super-fit pop singer said simply: "Suck your stomach in".

When it comes to fashion, she has always walked to the beat of a different drum. And at tonight’s Costume Institute Gala, Madonna showed off her unique brand of fashion.
While most attendees were sporting high-end couture gowns, Madge went her own way with a short blue ruffled dress that looked like it was from the early ‘80s teamed with a pair of thigh-high zip-up black leather boots.
And to top it all off, the "Material Girl" opted for a strange blue hat that extended a foot off of her head. While it wasn't the most trendy outfit, she certainly turned a few heads.
Madonna brought her manager Guy Oseary to the "Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion" shindig, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Madonna’s adoption case heard

Posted by Sylar On Monday, May 04, 2009 0 comments
Malawi's highest court began deliberating on Madonna's bid to adopt a 3-year-old girl from the southern African country, as a dispute erupted over whether a man trying to stop the proceedings is the girl's father.

Madonna was not at Monday's closed-door hearing at the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal, and a ruling may not be announced for several days.

The 50-year-old pop star is fighting a lower court's decision that she cannot adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James because she had not been screened over time by Malawi authorities. The court said the rules were bent when Madonna adopted her son David from Malawi last year.

Madonna's Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula said he was "hopeful" the appeal would succeed, and argued the lower court had relied on outdated law to block the girl's adoption.

Madonna found the girl in 2006 at Kondanani Children's Village, an orphanage in the southern town of Bvumbwe just south of the commercial capital of Blantyre. It was the same year she adopted David, whom she found at another orphanage in the central Mchinji district.

Dad To Madonna: Don’t Adopt My Girl

Posted by Sylar On Sunday, May 03, 2009 0 comments
The father of an African girl Madonna hopes to adopt says he wants to take care of his daughter himself - even though he's never met her.
James Kambewa, believed to be the biological father of Chifundo "Mercy" James, said he doesn't want the pop star to adopt the 4-year-old.
"I want to take care of her, and I'm capable to take care of my baby," he told CBS' "The Early Show" in an interview to be aired Monday. "Mercy, she is a Malawian - so (I) need her to grow as a Malawian as well with our culture."
Kambewa wears a necklace bearing his daughter's name but has never met her and says he has only seen her "in newspapers and TV - not face to face."
Madonna spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said in an e-mail message Saturday she doesn't know if Kambewa is the father of the girl, who lives in an orphanage.
"All I know is that Mercy has been in an orphanage since the day she was born," Rosenberg said.

More on the new songs for greatest hits collection

Posted by Sylar On Friday, May 01, 2009 9 comments
1242356058_l Paul Oakenfold was in the studio this week, producing new songs with Madonna for her upcoming Greatest Hits. Paul took some time to answer a few questions regarding the new material and we’re happy to share his answers to the first two questions today.

Q: How did you come to work with Madonna on the new songs?
A. I was approached by Guy Oseary to see if I was interested in working with Madonna in the studio.

Q: Could you tell us more about the sound you have developed for them?
A: I was looking for a cutting-edge sound with an old-school classic feel. I think we have achieved that and I think people are going to be really happy with this bunch of songs.

On the side note, the second producer of the new songs for Madonna’s hits collection seems to be DJ Frank E.(on the photo above) - a young DJ and Hip Hop/Rap/R&B producer. Madonna hit the studio with him on Thursday. He described the first day of recording on his Twitter site: “Great day today in the studio, doin it all over again tomorrow. This is my life.”

Marc Jacobs on Madonna

Posted by Sylar On Friday, May 01, 2009 1 comments
Contrary to rumor, Jesus Luz won't appear in Louis Vuitton's fall 2009 ad campaign with Madonna, Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs told us at Cipriani Wall Street during the 2009 Parsons Fashion Spring Benefit last night. Reporters routinely hound Jacobs with questions about Madonna’s man candy. “I don’t know why!” he said, laughing. “Why is everyone asking me about him? He’s not modeling for me. I don’t do menswear.”
Madonna, however, is, and Jacobs said they’d just been working together that day. “I think it was a great shoot,” he said. “She’s the ultimate professional and she and Steven are amazing. I love working with her. There’s no one better.” He refused to divulge the concept of the campaign.

Speaking of uptown, there’s the matter of that little party Jacobs is hosting with Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, and Justin Timberlake on Monday. Jacobs says that this year the Met ball will have “this kind of El Morocco theme going on.” He also adds that none of the concept is his doing. “It’s Anna’s party,” he said. “She came to us, my partner Robert [Duffy] and I, with a concept. She said, ‘This is the theme we were thinking of.’ And she thought we were really right for it. She asked us if we’d underwrite it. Robert was really keen on it and sort of put it all together and made it work with Anna. Anna’s included me in some of the meetings, etc., but, I mean, she really is astounding in how involved she gets, which is great. It really is the most glamorous party New York has.”

Jacobs says he isn’t worried about what he’ll wear, but is "really worried" about the girls he's dressing, including Madonna, Winona Ryder, Rachel Feinstein, Victoria Beckham, and Rihanna. “You know, I just want them to be happy,” he said. “I don’t know anybody who wants to, like, dress somebody on their wedding day. It becomes like this one important choice you have to make, so everyone’s thinking, like, ‘What can I wear that will blow everyone away?’ And I don’t know the answer to that. Just look good and feel good and don’t worry about it.” He said he’ll delve deeply into the Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton collections and archives “to make everybody happy.”

Here I am... what you got for me? M

Posted by Sylar On Friday, May 01, 2009 1 comments
Guy Oseary was back in the studio with Madonna tonight... and brought her on Tweetland again.
We heard from the horse's mouth that M is keeping her fingers crossed so that all will go well with Mercy, that she doesn't hate anyone (including the NYV paps) but horses don't like surprises as they are very sensitive animals and that lately she's been listening to electronic music / electro house.
